Continuous Shape Transformation and Metrics on Shapes

چکیده

A natural approach to defining continuous change of shape is in terms of a metric that measures the difference between two regions. We consider four such metrics over regions: the Hausdorff distance, the dual-Hausdorff distance, the area of the symmetric difference, and the optimal-homeomorphism metric. Each of these gives a different criterion for continuous change. We establish qualitative properties of all of these; in particular, the continuity of basic functions such as union, intersection, set difference, area, distance, and the boundary function; the transition graph between RCC relations (Randell, Cui, and Cohn, 1992). We discuss the physical significance of these different criteria. We also show that the history-based definition of continuity proposed by Muller (1998) is equivalent to continuity with respect to the Hausdorff distance. An examination of the difference between the transition rules that we have found for the Hausdorff distance and the transition theorems that Muller derives leads to the conclusion that Muller’s analysis of state transitions is not adequate. We propose an alternative characterization of transitions in Muller’s first-order language over histories.

On conformal transformation of special curvature of Kropina metrics

An important class of Finsler metric is named Kropina metrics which is defined by Riemannian metric α and 1-form β  which have many applications in physic, magnetic field and dynamic systems. In this paper, conformal transformations of χ-curvature and H-curvature of Kropina metrics are studied and the conditions that preserve this quantities are investigated. Also it is shown that in the ...

Topology-Varying Shape Matching and Modeling

The automatic creation of man-made 3D objects is an active area in computer graphics. Computer-assisted mixing and blending of components or subcomponents from existing example shapes can help users quickly produce interesting and creative designs. A key factor for automating this task is using algorithms that can match compatible parts between objects of different shape and structure. However,...

A moment-based approach for deskewing rotationally symmetric shapes

The covariance matrix of a pattern is composed by its second order central moments. For a rotationally symmetric shape, its covariance matrix is a scalar identity matrix. In this work, we apply this property to restore the skewed shape of rotational symmetry. The relations between the skew transformation matrix and the covariance matrices of original and skewed shapes are derived. By computing ...

Clustering of Fuzzy Shapes by Integrating Procrustean Metrics and Full Mean Shape Estimation into K-Means Algorithm

In this paper we propose a generalization of K-means algorithm, which is adapted to integrate Procrustean metrics and full mean shape estimation, with the aim of clustering objects with either multiple or fuzzy contours. First we are concerned with the representation of fuzzy shapes and introduce appropriate shape metrics and descriptors. Next, we discuss Procrustean methods for aligning shapes...

Composition operators and natural metrics in meromorphic function classes $Q_p$

‎In this paper‎, ‎we investigate some results on natural metrics on the $mu$-normal functions and meromorphic $Q_p$-classes‎. ‎Also‎, ‎these classes are shown to be complete metric spaces with respect to the corresponding metrics‎. ‎Moreover‎, ‎compact composition operators $C_phi$ and Lipschitz continuous operators acting from $mu$-normal functions to the meromorphic $Q_p$-classes are characte...
